Who we are

What the tool stores in your browser
The generator keeps your work in progress and any presets you save in your browser's local storage, on this site's origin only, so a reload resumes where you left off. Nothing is sent to us. It stays on your device until you delete it or clear your site data, and we cannot see it, read it or recover it. The share link feature writes your shadow into a URL only when you press Share link; if you send that link to someone, they see the shadow, and we do not, because the part of a URL after the # is never sent to a server.
No cookies are set by this site. No analytics, advertising or tracking scripts run on it. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
Server logs
Like every website, the hosting server records requests in access logs: the IP address of the request, the page asked for, the time, the browser's user agent string and the referring page. These logs are held by our hosting platform (365i, on 20i infrastructure in the UK) for the purpose of keeping the service secure and diagnosing faults, and are retained for a short rolling period before being overwritten. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a working, secure website. We do not use them to identify or profile visitors.
Preset background images
Some presets load a background photograph from this site's own server. If you type your own image URL into the canvas image field, your browser fetches that image from wherever it is hosted, and that host sees the request; we do not.
If you email us, we keep the message and our reply for as long as is needed to deal with it and for a reasonable period afterwards in case the matter comes up again. We do not add you to any mailing list. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering you.
Third parties
We do not sell, rent or share personal data. The only processor involved is our hosting provider, which stores the server logs described above under a contract that requires it to keep them secure. No data is transferred outside the United Kingdom by this site.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask what personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to our processing it, or ask for it to be restricted or transferred. Given what this site stores, the honest answer to most such requests will be that we hold nothing beyond a server log line and any email you sent. Write to support@365i.co.uk and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we add anything that changes what is collected, such as analytics, this page will be updated first and the last reviewed date below will change.
